Hi! My name is Bijou Basu and I’m the founder of No Longer Voiceless. After my grandfather passed away, I started reflecting on end of life approaches. I learned about Dignity Therapy from a palliative care physician, and founded this nonprofit based on its principles. Everyone deserves the chance to tell their story and for that story to be remembered and I hope to use this biographical approach to help individuals and their families process end of life.

We are introducing our newest legacy books: Journey Books! Journey Books are for patients with a chronic diagnosis who would like a way to have their stories transcribed. This longitudinal book allows for individuals to tell the story of their diagnosis, their resilience and their journey.

Meet Our Team: Bijou Basu
Bijou is our founder and President. Bijou founded the nonprofit during her first year of medical school. After her grandfather passed away, she came across a video recording she made in middle school where she interviewed her grandparents. While researching the intersection between story telling and palliative care, she learned about Dignity Therapy and decided to create this organization based on its principles.

We stand behind the Black Lives Matter movement. Our organization is rooted in the idea that the voices of the marginalized deserve to be heard. We as an organization stand to amplify the voices and stories of these groups and stand with them in our demand for justice and change.

We had our monthly meeting this past weekend revis

We had our monthly meeting this past weekend revisiting our goals for this year. Obviously with the state of the world, conducting interviews in person will be difficult for the creation of legacy book. That being said, we will be trying to create a few legacy books over Zoom interviews to see if that works. Although not ideal, we hope we can still create something families will cherish for years to come. We will also be focusing on securing grants so that when everything is back to normal we can hit the ground running! We’re so excited that our first handful of legacy books will be published and in the hands of our interviewees within the next 8 weeks! Learn more about us on our website (Link in Bio)

Meet Our Team: Anjani Ludu
Anjani is our Director of Operations and Administration.

Anjani Ludu, even as a toddler, knew that she wanted to dedicate her life to helping others. Throughout high school and college she volunteered at Harborview Medical Center, a level 1 trauma hospital, where she listened to countless stories throughout all departments of the hospital. As an aspiring Public Health and Hospital Administrative masters student, she is beyond excited to join No Longer Voiceless and help families and communities have a physical legacy of their loved one for years to come.
